After 13 seasons behind the plate of the Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, and Philadelphia Phillies, Brian Schneider is set to retire. Schneider is now 36 years old. The wear and tear of catching over 100 games for six seasons from 2003-2008 takes a toll on the body.
There’s no reason to think that Schneider will be inducted to the Hall of Fame. He retires with a .247 career batting average with 67 home runs in 1,048 games. The Phillies will sorely miss him this season while Carlos Ruiz is serving a suspension over the first 25 games.
